Holiday Pet Safety Tips

The holiday season is a time of celebration with friends and family, including the four-legged ones.  Below are a few safety hazard tips to  help keep your pet healthy and safe.

Cold Weather Hazards:  Dogs & Cats love the sweet taste of antifreeze.  Watch for spills, if noticed please take a moment to wipe up, or use pet-friendly antifreeze products.

Holiday Decorations:  Ingestion of glass, metal, ribbons or tinsel can lead to serious emergencies for pets.  Keep decorations out of reach.

Holiday Plants:  Ivy, holly, mistletoe, poinsettia, lilies and Christmas greens can all be toxic to your pet if ingested.  It is also recommend that you do not allow your pet to drink the Christmas tree water, it too can be harmful.

Parties:  Sometimes the hustle of a party may frighten animals & cause them to run away, we suggest keeping the pet in a crate or place pet into a safe room away from the crowd.  Avoid giving your pets any "table scraps", holiday meats can be fatty and cause a number of gastrointestinal problems.  Remember!  No chocolate for pets!
